Say hello to Mandy, a member of the sales and marketing team for ROPES! Mandy is from Florence, Texas, and earned her BA at Southwestern University. She worked in the real world for eight years before returning to school, which is the smartest decision she has ever made. She worries she will be kicked out of the MA programme, the Republic of Ireland, and the publishing industry as a whole when people find out she has never read ‘Ulysses.’ She blogs at www.TheGalwayTrain.com.
Meadhbh likes anything even resembling a girl band, over-identifying with fictional characters, and buying things she will never use, read, or wear. She can usually be found in the NUIG library, surfing Tumblr and idly wondering if it’s too late to change her essay title again. Alternatively, try local coffee shops, where she’ll be sneakily adding another sugar to her obnoxiously large coffee when she thinks no-one’s looking.
Shauna is a member of the ROPES editorial team and the coordinator of our upcoming MALP board game night. She is also the one who introduced ROPES to Jigsaw – and we are so very glad she did! Shauna is from Dublin and completed her undergrad degree at UCD. She likes good food, terrible pop songs, Brew Dog beers, and Oxford commas.
Emma, pictured here hunting for the Deathly Hallows, is a member of the ROPES editorial team. She interns for Cúirt International Festival of Literature and writes for ‘The Daily Shift’ website. She is from Longford and completed her undergrad in English and Psychology at NUIG. Even after all her education, Emma’s favourite writers are still JK Rowling and Roald Dahl. Emma loves films, music and procrastinating.
Here’s our Katy, who is such a social butterfly we had trouble finding a photo of just herself. She is from Galway – Oughterard to be exact – and loves films. She is a member of the ROPES editorial team, serves as the MALP class representative, and has just begun an internship with Cúirt International Festival of Literature. Her favourite book is ‘Rebecca’ by Daphne du Maurier. Katy keeps a blog over at whatkatythoughtnext.tumblr.com.
Meet our unicorn in residence, Mark Sweeney! The Donegal native (who has seen every film you can possibly think of, twice) is one of the brains behind the ROPES editorial team and dreams of us all living together as one big happy family in London next year… If it’s shelving books you’re into, there really is no better man!
Meet David Macken, our other ROPES design team member!
(Pictured here with his favourite bowl!)
His responsibilities include designing advertisements for local businesses and nodding his head in support of Marissa. He likes cookies, professional wrestling and keeping lists short!
Macken hates punctuality and greasy water. His favorite book is ‘Molly Moon’s Incredible Book of Hypnotism’, and has been since he was twelve.
