ROPES2013 is wrapping at the end of the month, to make way for the 2013/2014 MALP students and ROPES2014!

A Message from Molly

On behalf of the ROPES team, I’d like to wish all our followers a very happy summer! It’s been a tremendously exciting year for us, and we are very pleased to see copies of ROPES flying off the shelves at bookshops in Galway! Your support means so much to us and even more to Jigsaw Galway, to whom all proceeds from the journal are being donated.

This issue of ROPES focuses on the theme of coming of age, and the particularities of coming of age in the twenty-first century, and we are very pleased to announce the launch of the very first digital version of ROPES! The ebook is compatible with any ereader or mobile device and includes all of the highly-acclaimed work presented in the print journal in a convenient format. We are thrilled to be able to offer the journal in ebook form for the first time in its history, and we hope that you will make ROPES part of your summer ebook collection!

The ROPES team is dedicated to donating 100% of proceeds from both formats to Jigsaw Galway, and the journal makes a great gift for the readers in your life. The ebook is available for purchase through this ROPES website, our Facebook page, Amazon, and Smashwords. Print copies are still available in Charlie Byrne’s, Kenny’s Bookshop, Bell, Book, & Candle, the SU Bookshop, and online through this website.

Meet Fiona, a visionary in sales and marketing! Here she is kicking back after a hard days work at the construction site. Is cailín ó Connamara í Fiona. Meet the Team: Aoife

Meet Aoife from our sales and marketing team! Aoife comes from Cork and has a BA in English and French from UCC. She is currently balancing her postgraduate studies at NUIG with a new found and increasingly worrying addiction to Breaking Bad. Her favourite book tends to be whatever she’s reading at the moment. Here she is pictured in the traditional Galway dress.

The journals arrived from the printer yesterday, and we are ready to start sharing them with you!

We have added PayPal buttons to our Facebook page as well as this WordPress site. The book will cost €10 plus €3 shipping.

Meet the Team: Mandy

Say hello to Mandy, a member of the sales and marketing team for ROPES! Mandy is from Florence, Texas, and earned her BA at Southwestern University. She worked in the real world for eight years before returning to school, which is the smartest decision she has ever made. She worries she will be kicked out of the MA programme, the Republic of Ireland, and the publishing industry as a whole when people find out she has never read ‘Ulysses.’ She blogs at www.TheGalwayTrain.com.

Meet the Team: Meadhbh

Meet Meadhbh, a Kildare native and another member of the ROPES editorial team. (She’s very excited about her Captain America mug.)

Meadhbh likes anything even resembling a girl band, over-identifying with fictional characters, and buying things she will never use, read, or wear. She can usually be found in the NUIG library, surfing Tumblr and idly wondering if it’s too late to change her essay title again. Alternatively, try local coffee shops, where she’ll be sneakily adding another sugar to her obnoxiously large coffee when she thinks no-one’s looking.

Meet the Team: Shauna

Shauna is a member of the ROPES editorial team and the coordinator of our upcoming MALP board game night. She is also the one who introduced ROPES to Jigsaw – and we are so very glad she did! Shauna is from Dublin and completed her undergrad degree at UCD. She likes good food, terrible pop songs, Brew Dog beers, and Oxford commas.
